గత సంవత్సర కాలంగా ముఖ్యంగా ట్రంప్ అమెరికా అధ్యక్షుడు అయిన పిమ్మట అమెరికా-కెనడా, కెనడా-భారత సంబంధాల కారణంగా ఏర్పడిన ప్రత్యేక పరిస్థితుల వలన కెనడాలోని తెలుగు విద్యార్థులు ఉపకార వేతనాలు, ఉద్యోగాల విషయంలో ఎదుర్కొంటున్న విషమ పరిస్థితుల నుండి బయటపడటానికి తగిన చేయూతనివ్వాలని కెనడాలోని వివిధ సంస్థల తెలుగు సీ.ఇ.వో లకు విశ్వ హిందీ పరిషత్ జాతీయ అధ్యక్షుడు, రాజ్యసభ పూర్వసభ్యుడు, పద్మభూషణ్ సత్కార గ్రహీత ఆచార్య యార్లగడ్డ లక్ష్మీప్రసాద్ విజ్ఞప్తి చేశారు. ఈరోజు సాయంత్రం టొరంటో నగరంలోని బంజారా ఇండియా రెస్టారెంట్ లో పలువురు తెలుగు సీ.ఇ.వో లతో సమావేశం అయ్యారు. ఇక్కడ ఉన్న తెలుగు విద్యార్థుల తల్లిదండ్రులు తమ పిల్లల భవిష్యత్తు గురించి ఆందోళన చెందుతున్నారని, అందుచేత కెనడాలోని తెలుగు సంఘాలతో చర్చించి, మన విద్యార్థులకు ఉపకార వేతనాలు, పార్ట్ టైం ఉద్యోగాలు, అర్హతలున్న వారికి శాశ్వత ఉద్యోగాలు కల్పించాలని యార్లగడ్డ వారిని కోరారు.  ఆ సమావేశంలో పాల్గొన్న ప్రముఖులందరూ తామంతా అదే పనిలో ఉన్నామని చెప్పారు. గతంలో చదువు కోసం వచ్చిన తెలుగు వారిలో 80 శాతం వర్క్ పర్మిట్లు, తరువాత ఉద్యోగాలు పొందే వారిని ప్రస్తుతం అది 20 శాతంకు పడిపోయిందని వారు చెప్పారు. చాలామంది ఇక్కడ ఉండాలో, తిరిగి వెళ్ళాలో తెలియని అయోమయ స్థితిలో ఉన్నారని, వారికి వీలైనంత సహాయం చేస్తామని ఆ సంస్థల ప్రతినిధులు చెప్పారు.

ఆచార్య యార్లగడ్డ గతంలో కెనడాలో భారత సాంస్కృతిక రాయబారిగా పనిచేసిన సందర్భంగా ఈ సంస్థల ప్రతినిధులతో ఏర్పడిన పరిచయాల కారణంగా ఈ చర్చలు సానుకూలంగా సాగాయి. 

ఈ సందర్భంగా ఆచార్య యార్లగడ్డ "నమస్తే కెనడా" పత్రిక యజమాని, ప్రముఖ హిందీ సాహితీవేత్త శ్రీ శరణ్ ఘయ్ ను,  తెలుగు ఖతులను (ఫాంట్ లను)  తయారుచేసిన వారిలో తొలి విదేశాంద్రులు, రచయిత శ్రీకృష్ణ దేశికాచార్యులను విశ్వ హిందీ పరిషత్ తరపున సత్కరించారు. 

ఈరోజు ఉదయం విండ్ సర్ నగరంలో కెనడాలోని అతిపెద్ద టాక్స్ కన్సల్టెంట్ సంస్థ అయిన 'లిబర్టీ టాక్స్' కు 8 కెనడా నగరాలలో కార్యాలయాలు కలిగిన తెలుగు ప్రముఖులు సూర్య బెజవాడ, విశాల్ బెజవాడ తో కూడా సమావేశమై ఆ నగరాలలో తెలుగు విద్యార్థులకు సహాయం అందించమని కోరారు. 

ఈ సమావేశాలను బంజారా ఇండియా రెస్టారెంట్ అధిపతి వీరెళ్శ రాజేష్, మారియట్ హావీల్స్ లో ప్రముఖ బాధ్యత వహిస్తున్న పొతకమూరి భానుకుమార్ ఏర్పాటు చేశారు.

Toronto, Canada –

Prof Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, National President of the Vishwa Hindi Parishad, former Rajya Sabha member, and Padma Bhushan awardee, has urged Telugu CEOs of various companies in Canada to support Telugu students facing challenges with scholarships and employment opportunities. In a meeting held on Monday at Banjara India Restaurant in Toronto, Yarlagadda highlighted the difficulties Telugu students are experiencing due to recent changes in U.S.-Canada and Canada-India relations, particularly after Donald Trump became the U.S. President. He emphasized that many parents are worried about their children’s future and called for collaboration with Telugu organizations in Canada to provide scholarships, part-time jobs, and permanent employment for eligible students.

Prominent attendees at the meeting acknowledged the issue, stating that while 80% of Telugu students previously obtained work permits and jobs after graduation, the number has now dropped to just 20%. Many students are uncertain about their future and whether they should stay in Canada or return home. The company representatives assured that they would extend all possible assistance. Yarlagadda’s past role as India’s cultural envoy in Canada helped establish strong connections with these organizations, facilitating productive discussions. During the event, he also honored Sharan Ghai, owner of Namaste Canada newspaper and a renowned Hindi literary figure, along with Srikrishna Desikacharyulu, one of the first overseas Telugus to develop Telugu fonts, on behalf of the Vishwa Hindi Parishad.

Earlier in the day, Yarlagadda met with Surya Bezawada and Vishal Bezawada, prominent Telugu entrepreneurs running Liberty Tax, Canada’s largest tax consultancy firm with offices in eight cities. He urged them to extend their support to Telugu students in Windsor and other cities. The meetings were organized by Rajesh Veerelsa, owner of Banjara India Restaurant, and Banukumar Pothakamuri, a senior executive at Marriott Hotels.
